The song “Time Will Tell” offers a rousing call for environmental accountability and action against climate destruction, couched in catchy melodic hooks.
The “Time Will Tell” music video was filmed in the Swedish countryside and focuses on a quartet of familiar-looking young children as they explore the world around them. As they journey through the forest, they come across evidence of human environmental destruction as well as striking natural beauty. Their adventure brings them to an abandoned house filled with exciting treasures, including a walnut tree seed that they plant together. The music video ends as the children climb aboard a small, viking-inspired boat and sail off to destinations unknown. It’s an inspiring and moving video that perfectly captures the curious spirit, respect for the environment and social mission of the band.
According to Eric Rask, the first single from the new album “grew out of a frustration I often feel around the constant nitpicking concerning people’s differences and shortcomings. We are all incomplete and if we are to get somewhere and change something, we need to put more focus on what we have in common and focus less on who is doing right or wrong. Social change requires that many people choose to go in the same direction, and for that to happen there must be a positive enthusiasm. One thought that has been in the back of my mind is a slogan we used for a performance about climate change that we did as teenagers: “It should be fun to save the world!”
lyrics
They’re pointing my way
I wake up like I’ve always done
I drink my coffee a day on the run
Pulling out money from threads that I’ve spun
Follow in the patterns of my mothers and fathers before
I run the streets that I know too well, oh
Falling apart, I fell.
This sure look like a different place,
I see no trees, see no flowers, no bees, no s
All I see is what we left behind running blind
Shallow seas on the rise
The time will come when the oceans rise
The time will come when the children cry out, “Who did this”?
Will I look in their eyes and say?
It was me, point the gun my way
They’re pointing my way
Don’t know how to wake up
Take my coat on and straightened my back, ‘cause
It might not be my life down the line
Is it true when they say there’s no time? No.
You might think we’re a lifetime apart
It might just be that I’m slow in the start
Time is now, want to make it across
Time is now, see the dust, we do not stand alone
And the slow one will later be fast
The first one will later be last
Pointing my way
They’re pointing my way
Let me try it, meet me there
Help me to find the caves we’ve built
Tell me to reach that shore
Leave me to burn
And I will soon be coming your way
Oh, oh, savour the run
Oh, oh, savour the run
I’m coming your way
